Klaus Roewe
Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director

Klaus has served as Lilium’s Chief Executive Officer and an Executive Director on our board since October 2022. He joined Lilium following a 30-year career at Airbus, where he spent the last decade leading the A320 Family and A320neo programs to become the most successful large commercial aircraft of all time. His first roles at Airbus from 1992 to 2000 focused on composites production and A320 Family engineering. From 2003 to 2008, he worked in the A320 Family Program in various management positions. He was also Senior Vice President Cabin & Cargo, responsible for the Interiors of all Airbus aircraft, ranging from A318 to A380, from 2008 to 2010. Before joining Airbus, Klaus spent eight years as an officer in the German Federal Armed Forces and completed academic studies in mechanical engineering.

Stephen Vellacott
Chief Technology Officer

An aerospace-chartered engineer with 40 years of industry experience, Stephen joined Lilium in 2020 from Leonardo where as Chief Project Engineer for the AW101 he was responsible for leading the team through the design, certification & qualification of all AW101 variants.

Johan Malmqvist
Chief Financial Officer

Johan brings more than 25 years of experience as a CFO of global public and private companies across a variety of sectors and geographies. Most recently, Johan served as CFO at a premium electric vehicle manufacturer, Polestar, where he led the company’s financial organization, including finance, tax, treasury and investor relations. He also played a pivotal role in successfully navigating Polestar through its U.S. public listing and spearheading the company’s capital formation activities. Prior to Polestar, Johan served over seven years as CFO at Dole Food Company, a global distributor and marketer of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Karim Jalbout
Chief People Officer
Karim brings exceptional talent leadership most recently serving as partner at Egon Zehnder, the global leadership advisory and executive search firm. Prior to Egon Zehnder, Karim held leadership roles at Sony Ericsson Mobile and Diageo.
Roger Franks
Chief Legal Officer
Roger’s General Counsel experience includes advising publicly traded companies and directing their global legal & compliance functions. His successful track record in aerospace leadership includes KLX Inc. (now Boeing Distribution Services) and BE Aerospace, Inc.
Sebastien Borel
Chief Commercial Officer
Sebastien brings 20 years’ aerospace experience and formerly served in various leadership positions at Airbus and Honeywell. Sebastien joined Lilium from Honeywell where he was Vice-President, Strategic Partnerships, M&A and Licensing in Europe. Previously he was at Airbus, holding several senior management positions including Chief Commercial Officer of Airbus’ subsidiary NAVBLUE. Sebastien started his career in Denver, CO with Jeppesen, a Boeing Company, before joining an aerospace IT company in California. He also has Commercial Pilot licenses and attended the French Merchant Navy officer academy.
Yves Yemsi
Chief Operating Officer
Yves oversees the Lilium Jet aircraft program and also leads strategic supplier partnerships. Before joining Lilium, Yves spent the last 17 years at Airbus developing the most stringent quality standards and continues to do the same at Lilium today.
Daniel Wiegand
Co-Founder, Chief Engineer for Innovation and Future Programs and Executive Director

Mr. Wiegand is Lilium’s co-founder, has served as an Executive Director of our board since September 2021, our Chief Executive Officer until October 2022, and previously served as a member of the Lilium GmbH’s board. Daniel holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Technische Universität München.
Since Klaus Roewe joined Lilium as Chief Executive Officer, Daniel continues as Lilium’s Chief Engineer for Innovation and Future Programs and an Executive Director on our board.
